Power line catches fire, customers lose service

Some time in the wee hours of the morning, a power line caught fire near Seneca. Nearby Blue Ridge customers lost service for about one hour, long enough for some of them to get up one hour late. Terry Ballenger, spokesman for the Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, described the problem in an area bordering Blue Ridge and city of Seneca lines. Turned out, Ballenger said, it was a Seneca line on fire. Meantime, Blue Ridge had de-energized part of its system in that area. And it was a troublesome morning here at 101.7/WGOG. An outage in Tamassee took out service to our tower site and forced the station off the air for about 45 minutes.
