“Pothole Blitz” gets a fast start

South Carolina transportation officials say “Pothole Blitz” launched last week got off to a fast start. In the first eight days, the public reported nearly five thousand potholes to the DOT. Leland Colvin, deputy secretary, says eight of every ten reported by the public have already been repaired and the rest should be fixed this week. One Walhalla resident can only hope that something is done on a stretch of Main Street, starting at Tugaloo Street and headed west toward the outskirts of the city. Pothole repairs, however, are a temporary fix to make the roads safer. The repairs can last for weeks, but in severely wet, high traffic areas, pothole repairs may last only a matter of days before additional repairs may be required. You can continue to help the DOT by reporting potholes thru the state agency’s website or by calling 1-GO-SCDOT. (855/467-2368).
