Poster contest award winners

Bailey Moore, Grade 2, Ravenel Elementary School, selected as the Overall Grand Prize winner in the 36th Annual Tornado Safety Poster Contest conducted by Oconee County Emergency Services. The contest is designed for elementary students in grades one through five. The purpose of the contest is to educate children on the dangers of tornadoes and protective actions that should be taken in the event of a tornado in their area.

First place winners received awards of $50 each and a Weather Alert Radio, second place winners received awards of $35 each and a Weather Alert Radio, and honorable mention winners received awards of $20 each and a Weather Alert Radio. The Overall Grand Prize Winner also received an Emergency Supply Kit. The winners are listed by grade level as follows:

 

1st Grade

2nd Grade

Madeline Bradley: Honorable Mention (Ravenel Elem.)

3rd Grade

Evan Smith: 1st Place (Keowee Elem.)

Keeley Bright: 2nd Place (Keowee Elem.)

Jason Harman: Honorable Mention (Keowee Elem.)

 

4th Grade

Sadie Tyler: 1st Place (Keowee Elem.)

Swaylyn Carranza: 2nd Place (Keowee Elem.)

Riley Donald: Honorable Mention (Keowee Elem.)

 

5th Grade

Kylie James: 1st Place (Orchard Park Elem.)

Valerin Hernandez: 2nd Place (James M. Brown Elem.)

Riley Medlin: Honorable Mention (James M. Brown Elem.)

 

Overall Winner: Bailey Moore 2nd Grade Ravenel Elementary

 

The winning posters will be on display in the County Administrative Building until the middle of April.
