Poll managers needed for the November election

You can make a difference and serve your community by working as an Oconee County poll manager on November 5.  The voter turnouts for this month’s primary election amounted to pitiful numbers when compared to how many people could have voted.  For instance, GOP run-off to be the nominee for the U-S House of Representatives this week in Oconee drew only 12% of eligible voters.  However, November 5 is likely to be a different story, as presidential elections — especially heavily contested ones — tend to bring out the electorate.  Poll managers can earn $135 dollars for what amounts to one day of work.  Requirements are:  be a registered South Carolina voter or be 16 or 17 years old.  Attend a training session to understand Election Day procedures. To apply, contact the office of Oconee Voter Registration and Elections in Walhalla.
