Plea to drivers: Watch for work zone flaggers

For much of the remaining summer, Pickens County-based King Asphalt workers and equipment will be paving roads in Oconee County. King yesterday announced two projects to start this Sunday and to continue to their completion by the end of September. They are work on U-S 123 in Seneca from highway 28 to Pine Street and from 123 in Westminster, from Dixon Road to Pickens Road. These sections will be work zones where extreme caution is necessary. Motorists are requested to lower speeds and to expect delays. Be aware that personnel and equipment will operate close to the travel lanes. A spokeswoman for King Asphalt says the advisory is timely. In the last month, a King Asphalt worker was seriously hurt while working on Augusta Street in Greenville.
