Plan to nourish hungry tornado victims

To get food to those who need it and to reduce traffic pouring in, the City of Seneca is offering a plan to local organizations that want to provide prepared food to residents in need of a good meal. Many calls from concerned groups have been made to City Hall asking how they can provide food to the people in the affected area. Instead of delivering food inside the blocked areas, local churches and organizations are asked to take prepared food to these two locations between the hours of 10 am to 2 pm Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: UPSTATE MEDICAL ASSOCIATES – 15575 Wells Highway, Seneca and OCONEE COMMUNITY THEATRE – 8001 Utica Street, Seneca. LOCAL RESIDENTS WHO WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE MEALS SHOULD also come to these same locations between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm to receive food. You can also pick up non-perishable items and water at the Golden Corner Food Pantry, 635 Business Park Drive, Seneca. City officials advise organizations will be turned away at entry points going into the blocked areas and will be redirected to the two locations. Organizations that wish to participate must take their own supplies, such as tables, ice, paperware, etc., as none will be provided at the sites. No electrical hookups will be available. The City also has noted that the effectiveness of the program will be evaluated in 48 hours to determine if the plan adequately meets the needs of residents.
