Pickens County Churches Vandalized

Deputies in Pickens County are investigating vandalism incidents that occurred at three churches over the weekend.

Bible Baptist Church, Pickens View Wesleyan Church, and Seventh-Day Adventist Church, all located on Gentry Memorial Highway, were all vandalized at some point between Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

There were busted windows at the Adventist Church, and the tires on the church van at the Wesleyan Church were slashed. At Bible Baptist Church, a message was spray-painted on the side of the building saying, “Mike Seabrooke must go free now.” Seabrooke currently faces multiple charges after authorities allege he planted explosive devices at both the SC Department of Social Services Office in Pickens and the Pickens County Courthouse.

Chief Deputy Creed Hashe said in a news release, that authorities do not believe Seabrooke is connected with the vandalism incidents at this time.

Hashe also added that no suspects had been identified as of Monday and that the Sheriff’s Office hasn’t ruled out juvenile activity as a factor in the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office at 864-898-5500 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
