Pete Sluder

Seneca- Eldridge Clinton “Pete” Sluder,91, husband of Jacquelyn Esther Graham Sluder, passed away May 28th, 2021 at Keowee Place.

 

Born in Oconee County, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Granville and Pearlie Cleo Morton Sluder. Pete was a United States Army Veteran having served in Germany post World War II, and worked in the textile industry and later retired as a technician with the Clemson University USDA. Pete was a member of the Seneca Masonic Lodge #185, a Hejaz Shriner, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Seneca Chapter #5 and Westminster Chapter # 103, and a Lifetime member of Utica Baptist Church. Pete is the last surviving member of his family.

 

Pete is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn Esther Graham Sluder of 64 years; and a son, Graham Sluder and wife Erin of Seneca; two grandchildren, Brett Graham Sluder of Seneca, and Bryn Erin Sluder and fiancé Jeffrey Willicut of Columbia; brother and sister in-laws, David and Joyce Burdette and Jean Sluder and Mildred Graham; and numerous beloved nephews and nieces.

 

In addition to his parents, Pete is preceded in death by his infant son, Grant Sluder; and his siblings, Ida Leroy, Clyde Sluder, JB Sluder, Alice James, Frances Sluder, Ossie James Crenshaw, and Rev. Michael Sluder.

 

A Funeral Service will be held 1 pm, Saturday, June 5th, 2021 at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park with full military honors.   The family will receive friends 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Sandifer Funeral Home prior to the service on Saturday, June 5th, 2021.

 

The family would like to recognize the special caregivers, beloved niece, Gina Graham Bielby and the staff at Keowee Place for their care and compassion.
