Performing duties, three officers hurt

Last Sunday night the Seneca police suspected someone was cutting down bamboo trees in woods off N. Walnut Street and EN 2nd Street.  Their investigation resulted in the arrest of a 39-year-old man on multiple charges.  The police say after Brian Christopher Melero was sent for a hospital evaluation, the McAlister Road resident was charged with assault and battery second degree, assault police officer while resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  To subdue their suspect, the police employed Taser and, during their response at 9 o’clock at night, three police officers were injured.  Two of them were transported to the hospital.
