Paving unique to South Carolina set for Pickens County

A paving technique new to South Carolina will be undertaken on a section of U-S 123 in Pickens County. The work on the four-lane highway will take place between Liberty and the 133/College Avenue traffic lights in Clemson. According to a spokesman for contractor King Asphalt, the new type of paving will apply only to the section between the pedestrian bridge and the Ruhammah Road overpass at Liberty. This project will mean a delay in a second King Asphalt project—this one in Oconee County. King Asphalt’s Marty McKee says it’ll mean a delay in the start of re-surfacing 123 between the Oconee County Club and Westminster.
