Patio home lake living on the way to Seneca

A development to build homes at Lake Keowee at Seneca’s northwest border cleared a regulatory hurdle last night at City Hall. The planning commission approved a “PDR”—a planned development residential zoning classification for 91 acres. There, Jon Boyd’s Greenville development company wants to build 235 one-story, patio homes that’ll allow the homeowners to enjoy lake area living yet offer the convenience of low maintenance. The planning commissioners were told that a DOT traffic study will be required to gauge the impact for additional traffic on two-lane South Cove Road, which borders the acreage. A nearby homeowner, Gordon Howard, expressed concern that a small parcel of the development company’s property is inside the Keowee Plantation subdivision.  Last night’s planning commission vote is a recommendation to be sent to a January meeting of the city council.
