Parts of Depot walking trail off-limits

Parts of the walking track on the grounds of the Walhalla Community Depot are off limits. It has nothing to do with the potential to catch the virus. It’s due to Walhalla’s version of a big dig. So long as you walk in the company of no more than a handful of companions, it’s still a healthy exercise to breathe the air and get the heartbeat up on a sunny day. One precaution, however, is the need to walk clear of the equipment and ongoing construction work to rehabilitate stormwater pipe along S. Broad Street, between Catherine and College streets. Brent Taylor, city administrator, “They (the walkers) just don’t need to walk around in the construction area that is roped off. Obviously, don’t go where it is dug up.” Taylor has been at the construction site at least twice this week, and says, “We may have some minor change orders coming due to adjustments that need to be made in the field but don’t have details yet.” General contractor for the project is Thrift Development. Thrift won the job with a low bid of 201 thousand, 500 dollars.
