Part of DAR School to close…for good

In a move unrelated to the spreading virus, a 100-year tradition is shutting down in Oconee County. It is the residential part of the Tamassee DAR School. School officials say the entire school is not closing, only the residential part. Which means the school will no longer accept children for residential purposes. The school, operated by the national Daughters of the American Revolution, used the school to board children who came from impoverished backgrounds and built the school in part of what still is the Appalachian Region in the eastern U-S.
