Parking issues with proposed Clemson development

A regulatory board in Clemson engaged last night with developers and the public about the mixed-use development proposed for the former Holiday Inn property on 123—just inside the city from the Seneca River Bridge. Much of the attention during last night’s hearing focused on parking spaces and the location of a parking deck on the property. In fast-developing Clemson, the property is one of the last un-developed sections of the four-lane highway, and it’s a point not lost on one member of the Board of Architectural Review. He said, “We’re on the map. We told everybody how great it is (Clemson.) Now everybody wants to be here.” Applicant Clemson Dockside seeks approval for a mixed-use building with 202 residential units and 680 square feet for restaurant space. Clemson Dockside seeks permission to reduce the number of required parking spaces. The project faces citizen opposition, including those who live nearby on Holiday Avenue East and West.
