Parents want face-to-face learning

Most parents who’ve responded to an Oconee School District survey want their children to be allowed to return to face-to-face learning, and the public schools are setting out to comply with those wishes.  At the same time, Superintendent Dr. Michael Thorsland, says there are a number of parents who are uneasy over the idea of sending their kids back to the classrooms in August.  And, for those parents, it’s likely the district would offer an online option.  That’s the headline from a conversation today between Thorsland and JoAnn Johnson on the Oconee Chamber of Commerce news program.  Thorsland also addressed whether the 2020 high school football season and other fall sports will be allowed.  “We’re a long way from competition.  That’s just being honest and open.  If you made me guess right now, again just a guess, but I’d be very surprised if we had normal fall sports this year,” he said.
