Parents and students have two options

Oconee public schools are giving parents two options for the new school year starting August 10, and it’s incumbent to select their preferred option by early next week.  The options are traditional face-to-face, meaning in classroom teaching, or at home remote learning.  A pre-registration survey for each student must be completed by Tuesday, July 14.  The school district stresses that in face-to-face, masks will be required for students on buses, in common areas, and in most classrooms.  Refusal to wear a mask will mean disciplinary actions that could send the child home.  The school district at home option allows students to be taught by a teacher.  But there are certain considerations that come with the at home model, such as attendance requirements and a commitment by parents for their children to be full-time remote learners for the entire 2020-21 year.
