Order of dismissal issued by a federal judge

A federal judge will allow the parties involved in a roof replacement dispute at an Oconee condominium complex a period of 60 days to work out a settlement.  But, if that doesn’t pan out, Judge Donald Coggins will allow the parties to re-open the legal proceeding.  Originally, the case of Hart’s Cove Horizontal Property Regime Homeowners Association vs. Nationwide Insurance was filed in the Oconee County Court of Common Pleas, but later was transferred to the U-S District Court.  The dispute over repairing the roofs of Hart’s Cove near Clemson centered on when the damage occurred – whether it was April 13, 2020, the date of an EF3 tornado or whether it was the preceding October when Hurricane/Tropical Storm Zeta affected the area. The order, signed by Coggins two weeks ago, specifies that if a settlement can’t be worked out, the federal court will retain jurisdiction and enforce a settlement agreement.
