Open carry law arrives August 15

The state police have put out a reminder that South Carolina’s new open carry measure becomes law on Sunday, August 15.  The governor signed the legislation in May.  It had a 90-day implementation delay.  The new law removes the “SLED” application for all Concealed Weapons Permit applications on or after August 15.  No application fee will be required for any application, including renewals and replacements, received by the state police.  Open carry comes with the requirement of “proof of training”.
