On a Leap Day, Oconee voters leap to Biden

Joe Biden was the choice of Oconee County voters in today’s Democratic Presidential preference primary. The unofficial tally gives the former vice president 37.63% of votes cast in a primary in which, it’s believed, many Republicans cast ballots. Bernie Sanders placed second with almost 24%, while Tom Steyer was third at 12.8%. A total of 5,794 votes were cast. That, according to Steve Sperry of the Democratic Party, is about twice the number of votes cast in his party’s primary four years ago.
