Offer approved to fill Westminster slot

At a special meeting, Westminster City Council voted to extend an offer to a Pickens County resident to cross the county line to be city administrator.  Kevin Bronson of Central appeared to be the preferred choice of the finalists to succeed Chris Carter who resigned in May.  If Bronson accepts the terms, he is to be paid $45 thousand over the next six months to work as an interim administrator.   In the way the offer was described last night, both Bronson and the city’s elected leaders can consider the next six months as a feeling out period to determine if Bronson is comfortable enough to be the permanent administrator and whether his employers are impressed enough to remove the tag of interim and replace it with a permanent one.  Meantime, interim administrator Rebecca Overton says the move is fine with her.  Overton made clear after last night’s meeting she’ll be happy to return to her former city hall office duties.
