Oconeeans choose school trustees in November

Politically speaking, everything points to South Carolina primary election day one week from today.  But lurking beyond June 11 is a separate election when Oconeeans fill three seats on the county school board.  The November General Election is mostly about partisan politics, but Oconee school board seats are non-partisan, meaning candidates do not have to declare a party affiliation.  Oconeeans in Districts 2, 4, and 5 interested in four-year school board seats may obtain filing packets from the office of the superintendent of education starting Monday, July 22.  The official filing period runs 8 am Monday, July 29 to 12 noon Thursday, August 5.  For further information, contract Sandra Bay by email at [email protected] or by phone at 864/718-5717.
