Oconee to take “Night Out” against crime

Helen Westmoreland of the Oconee Sheriff’s Office has set plans for the county’s annual National Night Out against crime, to take place next week.  It’s an annual effort to promote police and community partnerships and neighborly camaraderie–all of this to make neighborhoods and communities safer and more caring places to live.  The public is invited for Oconee’s event to be 5:30 to 7:30 Tuesday night, August 3 at the Farm Center on 123 between Seneca and Westminster.  Among those taking:  the Walhalla Police Department, other law enforcement agencies, and Prisma Health’s emergency services.  Vehicles and equipment will be displayed.  There’ll be bouncy houses for kids and more.  National Night Out is observed in all 50 states, U-S territories, and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August.
