Oconee testing better than it was

In the view of one Oconee doctor, there has been greater opportunity for COVID-19 tests in the county than earlier.  “Testing has improved pretty dramatically in the past couple of weeks,” says Dr. Billy Campbell of Westminster.  So far, Oconee test results have indicated two dozen county residents positive for the virus.  Among the locations that, with doctors’ orders, offer tests are Prisma Oconee Memorial, the Rosa Clark Medical Clinic, and private laboratories.  Campbell is a believer that, to get a handle on the pandemic, more testing should be done.  The hospital in Stephens County, Georgia starting today is opening a drive-up testing site  To be tested on that hospital campus, a doctor’s order is required and those without an order will be denied.  According to Mike Hester, the CEO at Stephens County Hospital, says insurance companies have been told by the government to pay for tests at no cost to patients.  If you don’t have insurance, Hester, says patients will not receive a bill.
