Oconee schools expand eLearing

Friday, October 16 will be a day that Oconee County public school children do not have to report to their classrooms.  But it’s not going to be a day without learning.  The school district has chosen Friday the 16th as a day for students to practice eLearning at home for days later this year when weather conditions cancel in-class learning.  This expansion of eLearning has yet to be tried in Oconee but Lisa Simmons, assistant superintendent for instruction, says the district has the blessings of the state oversight committee on education and has already held one practice session in school.  Students will be required to complete and submit all assignments during the eLearning days.  Those assignments will be due within five days of returning to school.
