Oconee public schools’ new year starts Monday

Summer recess ends Monday for Oconee public school students, and the district superintendent says between 800 and 850 teachers will be ready to help turn minds into the task of learning for a new year.  With the return of the yellow school buses countywide, along with general school traffic, the general public is reminded to be careful around bus stops, school zones, and the like.  Once again, the public schools will run on staggered starts and dismissals.  So, school traffic is spread out during both mornings and afternoons.  One thing that won’t change is the total school population countywide.  According to Dr. Michael Thorsland, you can count on enrollment to remain as low as 10 thousand students to as high as about 10,500.
