Oconee not giving up on Lakeside Lodge

Oconee County leaders are not giving up when it comes to saving the land on which a large condominium project is to be built on the lakeshore in their county. The seven acres for the project, Lakeside Lodge, are in jeopardy of falling into the hands of Clemson—if that city council approves recommendations to change their zoning and annex the property into their corporate limits. Last night, after a closed-door meeting, the Oconee County Council approved a motion to start negotiations with the owners of the project. Those negotiations are to involve further incentives to the developers, so along as they agree to drop their request for their property to be annexed to Clemson. To represent Oconee in those negotiations will be the county attorney, the county administrator, and the county economic development recruiter.
