Oconee implements anonymous reporting system

Oconee County has implemented an anonymous, electronic reporting system allowing
citizens and employees to anonymously submit complaints, report ethics violations, or
probable fraud.
Oconee County Council requested Administrator Amanda Brock research and implement a
reporting system for both staff and citizens to promote increased accountability within the
County. The County team identified SAFE Hotline as the most efficient, viable, and accessible
platform to execute the Council’s directive.
The hotline exists for inquiries into matters related to all aspects of county government
ranging from unsafe working conditions, violations of county policies up to suspected fraud.
Internal and external investigative teams have been identified to manage incoming reports,
based on the nature of the report, Brock said.
Individuals may submit reports by filling out a web form at www.safehotline.com, or by
calling or texting toll free at 1-885-662-SAFE (1-885-622-7233). To submit a report,
individuals must use Oconee County’s ID: 7442488654.
“County Council stressed their commitment to maintain responsibility and integrity, to be
accountable to residents, and to provide our citizens and staff with a vessel to uphold this
accountability, and SAFE Hotline is a means to do just that,” Brock said.
SAFE Hotline is an independent third-party Ethics Hotline provider that offers businesses
and nonprofit organizations an anonymous and confidential service as a means for
employees and other interested parties to report potential fraud, ethics violations and other
concerns,” according to the company. The system provides anonymous two-way
communication and the ability to “track, analyze, and attach case notes and documents to
