Oconee couple arrested and charged with Georgia armed robbery

A man and a woman from Oconee are in jail after being arrested and charged with armed robbery in Lavonia, Georgia.  The Lavonia police chief, Bruce Carlisle, says the robbery occurred the night of January 26 at the Royal Foods store.  A man wearing a mask and gloves entered the convenience store and pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money.  The getaway vehicle was an older model dark-colored SUV.  Carlisle credits his investigators, the Oconee Sheriff’s Office, and tips from the public for help in eventually apprehending 23-year old Amy Fleming and 30-year old Artis Wright.  They were seen in Westminster, but a high-speed chase ensued last night ending in North Carolina.
