Oconee County has feline problem

An “avalanche” of kittens has arrived at the Oconee Animal Shelter near Seneca, and the Humane Society is further cutting the cost to spay/neuter both male and female cats.  What’s called “Kitten season” has hit the county hard again this year.  A spokeswoman for the shelter says hundreds of kittens, without moms, all homeless are streaming into the shelter on the Sandifer Boulevard.  There are now nearly 140 in foster care, but the reality is there aren’t enough foster or permanent homes for all of them.  The only way to stem the tide, according to the shelter, is to spay and neuter.
