Oconee County government revised announcement

“In order to continue to provide essential services to our citizens and protect the health and well-being of both citizens and staff, Oconee County will be reducing certain non-essential operations and services, as needed. Based on local, state and federal recommendations, Oconee County determined to institute the following precautionary measures:

 Access to public buildings has been restricted.  All tax payments are accepted over through the drive through at the Oconee County Administrative Office, over the telephone, online and by mail.  Building permits and payment assistance are being handled online or by phone.

Departmental Updates: Emergency Services Oconee County emergency personnel are wearing additional personal protective gear during medical response calls. Emergency services continues to coordinate with local and state agencies to provide information to the public. Public access to fire stations has been restricted and all public safety educational events postponed until further notice.

Magistrate’s Court The Oconee County Magistrate’s Court rescheduled bench trials, as necessary. Bond hearings are being held at the Oconee County Detention Center. Sanitation protocols have been instituted and access to public buildings limited. All payments are encouraged to be made by mail or the online state system.

Rock Quarry Regular customers are encouraged to apply for a monthly account to reduce the need to handle money or credit/debit cards. The Rock Quarry will continue regular operations at this time.

Citizens and staff should wash their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not regularly available, hand sanitizer may be used. High traffic surfaces should be disinfected frequently, including door knobs, light switches and phones. All persons should maintain a safe social distance of 6 feet from others as recommended by federal authorities. If you experience symptoms, please stay home except to get medical care.”
