OCC acts after executive session

Legal complications are delaying the transfer of the former Oconee Courthouse. After a closed door session and without further explanation, County Council voted to table third and final reading of the ordinance that would convey the building and property to hotel developers. Answering reporters’ questions, County Administrator Scott Moulder said the delay should not be interpreted as a potential deal breaker, but he insisted there are some things that both sides need worked out before a major asset of government is transferred. In a separate vote after the closed session, the council directed Moulder to proceed with an economic development project referred to as “Project Zeta.”
