O.C.S.O. Arrests Walhalla Man for Attempted Murder

(Walhalla, SC)——————————————-The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Walhalla man last Friday afternoon on multiple outstanding warrants, including a charge of Attempted Murder.

36 year old Matthew Carlton Moss of Stribling Shoals Road was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 5:35pm. Moss was placed into custody after deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle Moss was driving at Highway 183 at Country Junction Road.

Moss also had outstanding warrants charging him with one count each of Breaking into a Motor Vehicle and Malicious Injury to Personal Property in regards to the same incident.

Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division responded to a business located on Cross Roads Drive near Seneca during the morning hours of November 29th in regards to reports of a fight.

Deputies began an investigation and went about the process of gathering evidence related to the case. Deputies observed a physical manifestation of injuries on the victim. The suspect, Moss, had left the scene before deputies arrived.

As the investigation continued, the victim told the deputy about multiple altercations between himself and Moss that initially began when he observed Moss inside of his vehicle while the victim was inside the business. It was during one of those altercations that Moss produced a knife and made threats towards the victim. During another altercation, Moss was able to use the knife to assault the victim. Also, Moss caused damage to the victim’s vehicle as well.

Based upon evidence gathered during the investigation, deputies obtained the three arrest warrants against Moss. At this time, Moss remains in custody at the Detention Center as he was denied bond on all three charges. Moss will appear before a Circuit Court Judge at a later time regarding bond.
