Nursing home named in $100M lawsuit

A nursing home near Seneca was named defendant this week in two lawsuits alleging negligence and seeks $100 million in damages.  The lawsuit naming SSC Seneca Operating Company, doing business at Seneca Health and Rehabilitation, was filed in the Common Pleas Court by an Anderson attorney on behalf of Betty J. Hanvey, daughter of the late Maybell Webb.  Other defendants include the facility’s director of nurses.  The lawsuit alleges negligence on the part of Seneca Health and Rehabilitation during Webb’s stay there in 2018.  According to the allegations in the suit, Webb was a short-term resident of the facility, but later required hospital treatment before passing away in hospice in October of that year.
