November could be the month for a new water plant

This month still looks promising for the arrival of Walhalla’s new water treatment plant.  The new plant at Lake Keowee has actually been running for a period of weeks, a period of time in which the water department used to make adjustments.  Scott Parris, utilities superintendent, projects the end of the year when his city will make the final switch from the Coneross Creek plant to the Lake Keowee plant.  Once that happens, Parris predicts, Walhalla’s source for drinking water will be much improved and customers are likely to enjoy a better taste of waste.  Although it has cost millions of dollars to build, this multi-year project has been the darling of at least a couple of mayors and some members of the city council.
