No tax hike stance re-affirmed

As the Oconee County fathers work toward a new budget, the stance of no property tax increase in 2021-22 was re-affirmed today by the council chairman, who doubles as the council budget chairman.  John Elliott says he makes the statement based on a talk he had yesterday with Amanda Brock, the county administrator.  A new infusion of money is headed to the county treasury in the amount of $15.5 million of COVID relief money.  One question to be answered is just how that money can be spent.  For instance, can some of it be applied to build the new Westminster magistrate’s office.
