No reprieve for abuse and neglect offenders

Abuse and neglect crimes get no pass during this time of a world pandemic.  Law enforcement has braced for an increase in  incidents simply because so many more people are confined at home.  That’s why Mike Crenshaw, the Oconee Sheriff, reminds everyone that if they witness or suspect abuse or neglect, they should contact their law enforcement agency.  If they have concerns about filing a report and keeping confidentiality, the following avenues are open:  Crimestoppers at www.oconeesccrimestoppers.com or downloading the free P3 mobile app on Apple or Android devices.  Tips to Crimestoppers are passed to deputies who vet the tips and can further investigate. According to Crenshaw, the COVID-19 pandemic has not reduced or suspended those mandated to report abuse or neglect, such as members of the public safety, healthcare, ministry and educations professions.
