No further examination of the ballots cast

State Rep. Bill Sandifer says he will not request the state to direct a recount of the votes in his unsuccessful re-nomination contest.  And yesterday all results of this week’s primary elections in Oconee were certified in a 3-0 vote by the county board of canvassers.  Janice Matheson Holbrooks, presiding at the certification meeting, led the board through yesterday’s proceedings.  The actions taken usher in a pair of newcomers to the Oconee political scene—Adam Duncan and Tommy James.  Both were in the audience for the canvassers meeting.  Duncan scored an upset of the long-time state lawmaker from Seneca, Bill Sandifer.  And James will succeed Julian Davis as the District Four county councilman.
