NINA CROOKS

Seneca – Nina Julia Pickens Crooks, 95, wife of the late Pelham Junior “PJ” Crooks, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at her residence.     

 

Born in Oconee County, Nina was the daughter of the late Freddie Gilmer Pickens and Annie Belle Owens Pickens.  Nina was a retired seamstress with Jantzen, former co-owner of Betty Branch Farms, and a member of Return Baptist Church.  Nina enjoyed gardening, flowers, and cooking. 

 

Nina is survived by her son, Thomas W. Crooks (Kathleen); daughter, Julie C. Whitworth (Russell); sister, Nellie P. Campbell; grandchildren, Joshua James Whitworth, Sr., Amanda Whitworth, Jessie Whitworth, Grace Crooks; and great-grandchildren, Nina Martin, Arabella Whitworth, Joshua James Whitworth, Jr., Silas Jones, Alister Jones, Crissyanna Jones, Jacoby Poole, and Jakson Ramey.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, Nina is preceded in death by her brothers, Fredrick Pickens, Robert Pickens, Klettner Pickens, Neal Pickens (twin brother); and sisters, Mignonette P. Brock, Frances P. Moore, and Louise P. Fletcher.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm, Monday, September 18, 2023, at Sandifer Funeral Home with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends and family from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., prior to the service at Sandifer Funeral Home.
