NFL Draft

After two months of waiting, the Carolina Panthers made it official Thursday night, drafting Alabama’s Bryce Young with the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.  It took most of the first round, but the Tigers finally had cause to celebrate when Myles Murphy and Bryan Bresee were selected with back-to-back picks.  Murphy will be changing his stripes, going from Clemson to Cincinnati after the Bengals landed the pass rushing specialist 28th overall.  The following pick, New Orleans landed Bryan Bresee at No. 29.  Georgia’s Jalen Carter, at one point considered a possible pick to go first overall, didn’t habe wait long to hear his name called, as the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles scooped up the disruptive, 6’3, 314 pound defenisve lineman with the No. 9 pick.  At No. 14, the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones.  The NFL Draft continues Friday night with the second and third round, when former South Carolina Gamecocks like Cam Smith, Darius Rush and Zacch Pickens, as well as Clemson linebacker Trenton Simpson will hope to hear their names called.
