Newry development plans meet opposition

Plans for a new commercial development at Newry are engendering neighbor opposition, and that opposition is expected to come to the fore during county zoning hearing next week in Walhalla.  101.7/WGOG NEWS has learned that petitions are being circulated to oppose special exception requests by a developer to build a large self-storage facility near 391 Newry Road (and SC 130) inside a lake overlay district.  Keystone Development Services will request a special exception of the county Board of Zoning Appeals May 28.  A companion request from the developers seeks a variance for a commercial monument sign near 391 Newry Road.  According to its website, keystone Development Services offers “all phases of commercial, office and industrial real estate development.”
