New Walhalla hotel closer to reality

The Walhalla desire for a hotel within walking distance of the downtown got a boost today as principals closed on a deal that will put an old building into the hands of a Georgia couple who plan to develop a boutique-style hotel in the building most recently used as a conservatory for the arts.  A member of the board at the Center for the Performing Arts, Andrea Stroud, was present this morning for the real estate closing at which signatories were Caroline Harris for the developers and Ladell Price for the Center for the Performing Arts.  The building to be remodeled for the hotel adjoins N. College Street, at N. Broad, and parallels the auditorium building.  Among those excited at the prospects are those affiliated with the Center for the Performing Arts because patrons and show and concert performers will be able to have overnight accommodations.  A few years back when singer B-J Thomas performed at the auditorium, he spent the night at a motel 10 miles down the road in Seneca.
