Neighbors unhappy with the looks of new water plant

With a new treatment plant at Lake Keowee, Walhalla believes it can count on a new source of water well into the future.  But not all are happy.  Residents of a home development on the lake look out and see a large concrete structure, and they are hopeful the city will invest in plantings to hide their view.  Mayor Edwards last night promised the co-owner of Backwater Landing the city will address the situation.  Edwards and the council looked at photographs and listened to Backwater co-owner Wylie Lipchik say the looks lower property values.  Lipchik said when Backwater was told of where the plant intake would be built, they had the impression that the complex would resemble a park.  Instead, she says, what it now looks like is closer to a parking lot.
