NE Georgia civil suit targets YMCA and gym coach
A civil suit filed for the parents of a female alleges their daughter’s death is related to years of sexual abuse on the part of her YMCA gymnastics coach in Hartwell, Georgia. WLHR Lavonia reports Susan Cobb, mother of Jennifer Cobb, issued a statement saying their attorneys filed the suit against Jeremy Leonard Green and the Bell Family Branch YMCA. The lawsuit comes two years after Jennifer Cobb’s death. Green was arrested in 2021 and indicted on charges that he molested and raped “a teenage girl under the age of 16 from July 2015 to November 2015.” That girl was later identified as Jennifer Cobb. Green has been released pre-trial and has entered a plea of not guilty. Because of pre-trial publicity, Green’s attorneys have motioned to move the trial from Hart County. Trial date has not been set.
