National Pill Back Day tomorrow

You can get rid of old or no longer needed prescription medicine during Pill Back Day tomorrow in Oconee County. Two locations will accept that type of meds, as well as old vitamins and over the counter medications from 10am -2pm. The proper collection and disposal of these medications will prevent damage to the environment. Proper disposal can prevent medications from reaching the hands of children or other individuals. This is a proactive way to protect individuals from harm. The Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone of the Drug Collection Unit inside the main lobby of the Law Enforcement Center (300 South Church Street in Walhalla). It is available during normal business hours (8:30am- 4:30pm, Monday-Friday). Those who bring medications in pill form to either the Pill Take Back Day or to the Drug Collection Unit at the Sheriff’s Office should ensure that each medication is in its properly marked prescription bottle. The bottles will then be opened; their contents will be emptied into containers, and properly disposed of.
