National audiences look in on Oconee

No matter where you live, there’s likely fascination with how the outside world sees your environment. Of late, there seem to be no shortages of examples of how national media see events that have occurred in Oconee County and have involved the lives of a handful of residents. The latest example is the HBO documentary series that recounts the Monopoly game fraud that victimized the McDonald’s restaurant chain and ensnared a few of the county’s residents. Earlier this year, Rolling Stone magazine published a penetrating article on Lindsey Graham, the U-S senator who makes Oconee his home. And tomorrow night, it’s expected, that many Oconee TV watchers will tune in the ID channel to watch a recount of the grisly murder case of Rebecca Murray Cawthon, who was shot eight times by her husband and was stuffed into a barrel on their property.
