Nation, state, and local jobless numbers

In six weeks, 3.8 million Americans have filed unemployment applications. In South Carolina, State Senator Thomas Alexander today received the latest numbers from the state Department of Employment and Workforce. They show 65, 151 claims. However, there’s decrease statewide in the number of new claims. The Oconee-Pickens senator gave these figures to cover the tri-counties: In Oconee in the last week, there were 951 claims, compared to one thousand the previous week. More than 1,600 claims were filed by Pickens County resident; and 2, 961 claims by Anderson County residents.
