Movement on the Kellett green recreation project
Progress reported today on a project to demolish a former Seneca school building and convert the property to green space recreation. Scott Moulder, city administrator, told 101.7/WGOG NEWS this afternoon, “We have finally cleared the environmental review process through the S.C. Department of Commerce. I received my letter today as a matter of fact.” Moulder sees this as final clearance to start the bidding process to find a contractor to raze the building and clear the property. A number of future uses for the property had been thrown around, but substantial community input appears to favor a recreation-type use for the property. And last year Seneca went for a $500 thousand dollar grant to hire a contractor to demolish the building in a way that meets environmental and other public safety considerations.
