Mountain Rest tragedy

A 21-month old boy died late yesterday afternoon in an accident outside a home in Mountain Rest. Coroner Karl Addis says the boy’s father had arrived home from work and was backing up his truck to park when it appears the boy ran from the home toward the truck. The scene was Beulah Land Drive near the Whetstone Road. The boy was struck by the front passenger side tire and died at the scene from a head injury. Addis says speed was not a factor. The child’s name is to be released once other family members are notified. The highway patrol investigated.
