More on the DeRidder ouster

After three years, Sharon DeRidder is out as the grants writer for Oconee County. Her dismissal today followed a flap at this week’s council meeting over the cost of a used fire truck and whether the county could have had a better deal had she been asked to file for a grant. DeRidder said she was let go by Amanda Brock, the new interim administrator. DeRidder says she was told in front of Brock and two other county officials that she couldn’t get along with people. “Which is not true,” DeRidder told 101.7/WGOG NEWS. Brock confirmed the grants writer’s departure, saying she is “no longer a county employee.” But Brock declined to provide a further explanation, calling what happened a personnel matter that entails confidentiality.
