Monetary gift to help 100 in Oconee

A $5 thousand cash gift to the Oconee Sheriff’s Office from a Christian counseling and teaching group is designed to bring cheer to a number of county residents the next few days.  Sheriff Crenshaw yesterday met with the chairman of the Isaiah 40:31 Foundation and accepted the monetary gift.  “Our hope.” Said Crenshaw, “is that those who receive the money will use it to buy groceries, Christmas gifts or to pay bills.”  The sheriff said at $50 dollars each, there should be enough to help 100 people.  It’s likely that the gift will be doled out incrementally at random to people who will be approached by deputies.  According to the King James version of the Bible, Isaiah 40:31 reads, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
